Okayyyy... to start, I've been to a lot of places in Chicago (& Suburbs) and this place was to be on the top of the list (if not #1) in terms of Customer Service. I will legit give them a 10/10 for hospitality - before we got there was a great experience and while we were there, it felt like family taking care of us. We came here for my Fiancés birthday and we were communicating with (NAME) and she made it an easy & smooth time booking a birthday event here / table. She even said Hi when we arrived at Tabu! Went out of her way just to wish my fiancé a happy birthday. Now, when we got there we immediately were welcomed by Cush, phenomenal service, advice, and went above & beyond for us (at least it felt like that in comparison to other restaurants). Thank you Cush! Juliani was our server and she was great too, knew her stuff on the menu & took care of 12+ people with no problem. Lastly, the food I can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back soon. My fiancé wants to celebrate every birthday here now haha thank you team @ Tabu for making my fiancés bday a wonderful experience!! Personal Review: 9.5/10

Loved this place!! Finally starting to explore Chicago and after reading some reviews, settled on this place. We had a reservation but upon arriving, the place was empty. This definitely is a later crowd vibe! They sat us at this super cool booth, ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. Service was ON POINT. We ordered a bunch of drinks (spicy margarita on point!!) and the tajin and coconut hibiscus rims were great! Food!! The nachos were amazing!! And such a fun experience! Get them :) Guac comes with this amazing honey sauce that was out of this world delicious. Octopus perfectly cooked. Ordered this Mexican pizza (replaced beef with chorizo) she warned me it was big, which I felt "challenge accepted" and then when I saw it was laughing so hard. Yup. Its giant. And SO GOOD. Crispy and just really unique. Bathrooms were super cute and loved all the art! All in all this would definitely be a repeat visit!!

We came here for my wife's birthday on a Saturday night. The evening started out quiet, with a rather empty dining room. The place got packed by the time we were heading out. My guess is that people come later so they can enjoy the this place when it converts into a lounge. The service for the most part was good. It started out great, but as more people started coming in, the service got slower. Took about 20 minutes to get our bill so we could pay and get out. We started off with their Queso Fundido and forgot to bring tortillas. Everything else went pretty smooth though. My wife ordered their Bandeja Paisa tacos and I ordered their Steak & Frites. The tacos were really flavorful. They came with chorizo, skirt steak, plantain, Chicharron, quail egg, aji, and avocado. A lot of stuff going on there but they all went so perfectly inside the tortilla. Wouldn't mind ordering these again. The skirt steak as tender, and you get a little heat with the chorizo. My steak was cooked perfectly. It came with chipotle chimichurri, habanero aioli and a lot of fried that we couldn't finish. We also ordered a few drinks and they were all tasty. Fruita Fresca was our favorite. Overall a satisfying meal and decent night. Will definitely be returning.

Tabu exceeded all expectations for a perfect girls' night out! The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff adding to the overall enjoyable experience. The ambiance set a fantastic vibe, making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the delicious and tasty food that satisfied every craving. From starters to desserts, each dish was a delightful treat for the taste buds. The menu offered a variety that catered to different preferences, making it an excellent choice for diverse groups. A unique touch was discovering the stylish bathrooms downstairs--definitely a talking point and an unexpected highlight of the evening. It's the little details like this that make Tabu stand out. The inviting atmosphere and chic decor make Tabu equally suitable for a romantic date. The well-curated ambiance creates an intimate setting, perfect for sharing a meal with a special someone. All in all, Tabu left a lasting impression, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit, whether it's for a charming date night or another memorable girls' night out. Highly recommended!

Restaurant week review: 1. Cemitas Madame - Black Forest Ham, Duck Confit, Bechamel, Spicy Adobo, Sunny Side Egg, Breakfast Potato 2. Crumpets - sweet plantain, fruit, toasted meringue, dulce de leche pastry cream, pulque ancho syrup 3. House-made Tortilla Chips & Guacamole w/ Burnt Habanero Honey & Pomegranate I really liked the texture of the tortilla chips. The guacamole needed to be creamier and was not mashed enough. Cemitas Madame was a tasty, heavy sandwich but could use more flavors like sauces or veggies to cut through or complement the heavy meats. I also loved the glutinous, soft yet crispy texture of the crumpets. Everything about the dessert from the plantain to the meringue was executed right. I liked the interior design but it's hard to appreciate under the dim lighting. Service was mostly okay. I had to ask for new utensils more than once.

Super cute vibe and delicious food and drinks!! Price is on the higher end ($17-$22 ish for appetizers) but dang it was worth it! It also makes sense given it's in West Loop. Service was excellent too. Food was 5/5! My friend and I shared three appetizers and we were happy and stuffed! - Lobster flautas: My favorite dish we got!! The lobster filling was sooo creamy and tasted so fresh. The crunchy and creamy texture of the dish paired with a refreshing dipping sauce was just perfect. Will definitely order this again. - Pork belly Arepa: YUM. It was delicious though there wasn't a specific part that stood out. Would order this again. - Ceviche: So refreshing and balanced! It came with plenty of tortilla chips. It's a nice and bright dish to balance out the other rich creamy dishes. I ordered the Cuckoo for Coco cocktail and it had a nice foamy texture and it wasn't too sweet. I love coconut and this definitely didn't disappoint! Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu! Everything else looked so good but we could only eat so much!
